Professionally, I'm a medical nutritionist and Bowen therapist, which means my work is in the area of Alternative and Complementary health. I've been in practice for 10 years and use diet, supplements, herbs, homeopathy, electricity and touch in my work. Not to mention a sympathetic ear. I live in a small town about an hour north of San Francisco. I've been married and divorced and raised a wonderful 19 year old son who lives in Berkeley where he goes to school part time and plays music and philosophizes. I love many things about California, primarily the weather and how open and alternative so many people are, but I occasionally miss the intellectual rigor of the East Coast where I spent my first 38 years. Reading is probably my favorite activity, which is a good thing because I just recovered from almost six months of being bedbound with a back injury! Some recent favorites are 1000 Days in Tuscany be DeBlasi, and Eat, Sleep, Pray, both travel memoirs about the meaning of life.

Well, as the serenity prayer says, "God grant me the wisdom to accept the things I cannot change...." And I have had to accept that I'm just not going to get everything moved today. Despite hours and hours of packing, there is still about 5% of my belongings scattered about the house, and about 50% of my partner's. This next week will have to be many smaller trips with the pick-up, but at least all the furniture will go today. What IS all this crap? I didn't realize how much built-in storage I had at my current house, and now I have to find a place for it all. Add to that, that the garage in the new place is still being sheetrocked and painted, and we just have no place to put all our stuff. I've been running on caffeine for a couple of days now, and I feel that hyper-caffeinated exhaustion that usually precedes getting sick. I would like to just recline in the divan with a case of the vapors and just have the movers pack the rest of everything, but it's just too expensive. Rant, rant, rant, panic, panic, panic. Accept the things I cannot change.... Aahh.
